Eli Manning’s ex-Giants teammate offers insight into QB’s Chargers snub

In 2004, the Chargers selected Eli Manning with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft, even after he had said that he didn’t want to play there.

The reasoning behind the move has never really been fully explained. Even Manning, in 2013, said he “can’t remember” why. But in a radio interview Wednesday with San Diego’s Mighty 1090, Manning’s former Giants teammate Shaun O’Hara provided a little insight into the decision.

“You know what? I think we hammered him about that a couple times and we drilled him about it. I think it was more his agent that really kind of pushed it. You know, Tom Condon, I think had just dealt with maybe that contract that high in the [draft] before and didn’t want to have to deal with something from an organizational standpoint. You know I never really heard him give a concrete, ‘Hey, I didn’t want to go there because of this.’

Kelly ran into an abundance of trouble at his two college stops. Clemson kicked him off the team for what Dabo Swinney described as “a pattern of behavior that is not consistent with the values of our program.”

Kelly played a season at East Mississippi Community College before transferring to Ole Miss, but was arrested in his hometown of Buffalo not long before enrolling at the SEC school. Kelly’s agent texted Tim Graham of the Buffalo News and said Kelly received an invite to the Packers Cheap Jerseys Combine on Jan. 6, and was assigned a jersey number. There was no explanation given for the Patriots Cheap Jerseys rescinded invitation.
